Sutton-Kennerly & Associates, Inc. (SKA) engineers and technicians work exclusively on computers using the latest computer aided drafting and design technology as well as the latest engineering analysis design software.  Our staff includes experts in computer modeling of sophisticated and complex engineering designs which has earned the firm national respect.

SKA continues to maintain a competitive edge by focusing on changes and trends affecting current technology.  Our major drafting software is AutoCad. and we use multiple engineering design software packages that are continually upgraded to meet the latest codes and technology.

SKA employs a full-time network administrator & CAD administrator who are directed by management to continually seek new and innovative drafting and design software.  Our network administrator regularly attends various seminars and training sessions to stay abreast of new procedures and products which could enhance the efforts of SKA engineering and technical personnel.  Our CAD system is also overseen by a committee comprised of engineers & CAD operators representing the various engineering disciplines  & network administrator.  This CAD operations committee meets regularly to exchange information, resolve conflicts and develop standards.

SKA maintains a library of current building codes and technical data.  One person in each discipline is assigned to maintaining current information in this library.

We are proud that all members of our engineering staff are engaged in continuing education.  We have monthly in-house seminars, and engineers also periodically attend off-site seminars.  Each engineer who attends an off-site seminar presents a summary of the information gleaned from the seminar to the design staff.

Our clients benefit directly from our technical expertise and qualifications.  All of our drafting is computer generated.  This results in consistent and accurate documents.  Our various design software packages allow us to efficiently perform designs for various schemes during the programming and early design stages.  Developing these options prior to generating the final design documents insures the client's participation in the final selection of building systems and components.

We have the capability of transmitting and receiving documents and information electronically and do so on a regular basis via E-Mail on the Internet and our local area network.  Project files are organized using a electronic file management system developed by SKA and project archives are made readily available while all data is backed up nightly and stored off-site for recovery purposes.

A number of our clients are attorneys who represent owners, contractors and others in cases where the results of the litigation could impact building codes and/or the established standards of the engineering profession.  Several of SKA's engineers are routinely called upon to present expert witness testimony in these cases because of our reputation for engineering excellence and technical expertise.  Our participation in these legal processes keeps us abreast of litigation in the region and provides us with a preview of future trends in litigation affecting the engineering profession.
